Albert Monteys

Monteys is the King Midas of humor, everything he touches turns into gold. He is considered to be the funniest and most prolific Spainish cartoonist. Thanks to his long list of politic and social satire strips in El Jueves magazine, we came to know him and his characters, such as Tato and Calavera Lunar; as well as his collective and creative venture with the hilarious Mondo Lirondo series. He has also taken part in many magazine collaborations, publications and web projects. Currently, he lives off the Internet, he says. Given that he is one of the creators of the digital satire magazine Orgullo y Satisfacción and the father of the online science fiction series Universo.

Deamo Bros.

As they say, they were first born as comic authors, and later on became brothers. This cartoonist’s tandem is formed by Raúl Deamo and Danide. They combine science fiction and fantasy with local humor.
Some of their most outstanding Works are Serie B, the comic strips of Walter & Beep, the series Mundo Absurdo and Alan & Zoort. They have published in Spain and France; in El Jueves magazine, Spirou, Amaníaco, Quimera!, Dibus! , ARA newspaper and Sitges Festival’s newspaper. Currently, they have projects coming along waiting for a publishing house; meanwhile they keep working on new other projects.

Manel Fontdevila

His long cartoonist career is marked by a strong and critic style towards the political establishment. Fondevila has a refined eye for the mundane life which he genuinely employs it to create his comic strips. He was published in the legendary 1980’s magazines and newspapers, and he has also written various graphic novels. He has an extended compilation of comic strips published by the weekly satire magazine El Jueves, from which La Parejita comic series was born. Currently, he publishes his everyday comic strip in El Diario.es; besides, he is one of the creators of the digital satire magazineOrgullo y Satisfacción, where he keeps publishing more adventures from La Parejita.

Oriol Malet

His brilliant illustrations embody a lot of personality. He has illustrated for magazines such as Bilbao, Ajoblanco and Rojo. He frequently collaborates with different publishing houses so we can find his drawings in many books. He has also illustrated very talented record covers of different bands as well as wine labels. In recent years we have seen his creative work in La Vanguardia, Time Out Barcelona and Jot Down, an independent publication in which he is the head illustrator. Since 2004 he collaborates with theVadepares.cat blog, where he writes in an hilarious style the most difficult moments of being a parent.

Sagar Fornies

Fornies’ quick sketches are ingenious; he has worked in advertisement and has created important staging designs. His sketchbooking skills don’t need the use of photos; his markers and brushes are enough to portray reality. Some of his drawings have turned into illustrated books such as Las ramblas, Redescubriendo el Eixample and Barcelona travelnotebook. Remarkable works are La ola perfecta, Bajo la piel, Dimas with Andreu Martín as scriptwriter, and his recent work called Barcelona. Los Vagabundos de la chatarra, with Jorge Carrión as scriptwriter, is an initiative to graphic journalism that immerses the reader in another sight of Barcelona, far from what is seen in the postcards.

Maribel Carod

Her work as an illustrator and author is filled with social criticism and ordinary observation. Maribel stands for desktop publishing (and self-distribution) of her works, she already has issued five volumes. Some of her characters and series are Dibus y diretes and Oficinismos, various blogs and social network profiles that she manages. She has also painted very elegant murals in different spots in Barcelona. In 2012 she won the Serra i Moret comic award and recently won one of the Gin awards for graphic humor. Currently, she collaborates in the live news program Els Matins de TV3 doing graphic humor.

David Morancho

His premature talent, with only 17 years old, let him publish in Ediciones B magazine Zipi Zape and Super Lopez. His drawings, together with Martín Pardo’s scripts, were published in their comic books Eclipse, Mal Chance and Red Mantis; the latter was published in the United States. He has worked a long time doing storyboards and illustrations for different advertisement agencies and illustrating textbooks both in hard copy and digital formats. Currently, he is exclusively dedicated to comics. His last work is called Sara Lone, an adventure saga set in the late 50’s in North America with a characteristic pin-up look like. Sara Lone has become a successful publication in France, Belgium and Spain.
